The seven questions a CSR team asks
Mappedu urban area has lost tree cover to rapid construction. Surface temperature and particulate levels have both risen, and there is no municipal budget line for replanting or for maintaining what is planted.
Mappedu urban area, Thiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu. Site mapping and road margin clearance completed with Panchayat officials between 19 and 23 May 2026.
Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Private Limited, as a corporate social responsibility joint initiative, with the Mappedu Panchayat.
1,000 native saplings deployed in phases. Phase 1 planted approximately 100 saplings on 25 May 2026, all fenced and tagged, with tree guards and protective fencing procured from vendors assessed across Chennai.
40 or more Foxconn employees participated as corporate volunteers alongside 100 or more community participants drawn from local youth, residents and Panchayat officials.
Photographs, vendor invoices, sapling tagging register and the Panchayat clearance letter are held on file and available in the transparency centre.
Daily hydration by local youth volunteer teams, weekly fence and guard audits by Mappedu resident blocks, and monthly growth tracking by FEEED field staff. Survival rate, not sapling count, is the reported measure.
