Come for a day. Most people come back.
Field days at government schools, health camps and plantation sites across Vellore, Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram. Weekends, a few days a month, or a block of leave.
What you take away from it
A named field officer
Not a general inbox. One person who briefs you, answers questions and signs your record of service.
Training before you start
Child protection, community entry and how to document what you see. Half a day, and it is not optional.
Certificate and reference
After forty hours in the field, a certificate of service and a reference letter naming the projects you worked on.
Sight of the whole chain
You see the enquiry, the proposal, the delivery and the handover file. Very few volunteering roles show you that.
The work itself
School support days
Desk and bench assembly, library setup, running reading sessions.
Health camp logistics
Registration desks, queue management, follow-up calls to referrals.
Plantation maintenance
Watering rotas, fence and guard audits, growth tracking.
Documentation
Photographs, beneficiary counts and handover notes. Unglamorous, and the reason our project files stand up to due diligence.
Four steps, about a week
- Fill in the form. It takes two minutes and there is no obligation.
- A field officer calls you within three working days to talk through what suits you.
- Half a day of induction, in Vellore or online.
- Your first field day, alongside somebody who has done it before.
Minimum age eighteen. No qualification needed. Tamil is useful and not required. If you cannot travel, there is documentation and translation work that can be done from anywhere.
